Parents, Players and Coaches,
We are excited about our 2019 4-12 Year Old Spring Baseball/Softball Season! We have 58 teams in the 4-12 year old division. With that, comes some challenges on practice and game scheduling. We have worked all of that out but want to remind everyone that schedules can’t always be perfect we try our best to make it all work.
Practices: are scheduled to begin February 25, 2019. The Concession Stand will be open during practices. We have scheduled practices for all teams, but coaches can switch with each other. Parents please verify with your coach about practice times. Coaches, please talk your parents about your practice times. Once games start, we will still have some limited practice slots that coaches can call the office and see what we have available. Please pickup after your practice.
Games: Opening games and pictures will be on Saturday March 23, 2019. We are working on a plan about opening day. Once it is complete, we will send it out, or you will hear from your coach. Game schedules will be completed in the next 2 weeks and will be posted online, T-ball Game schedule is complete to include the end of season t-ball party. Regular season games will be on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and each team will play 2 games per week. 11-12 Yr Old Baseball will have a few games in Oak Grove.

Understanding the New Bat Rules for Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth
USA Bat Update
The Easton Ghost X 30/20 2 5/8 has been decertified (no longer approved) by USA Baseball . This was not a decision made by PSA. Please read the following for information about a voucher through Easton if this has affected you.
Dear Cal Ripken Baseball and Babe Ruth Baseball Membership:
USA Baseball informed youth organizations, including Babe Ruth League, Inc., that effective immediately and until further notice, the bat identified as the Easton Ghost X YBB18GX10 30/20 2 5/8" (or the "Easton Ghost X 30/20 5/8" at retail) has been decertified by USA Baseball and is no longer an approved bat under the USABat Standard.
All other certified lengths and drops of the Easton Ghost X USABat remain approved for play.
For any family or league that is impacted by USA Baseball's decertification of the Easton Ghost X 30/20 5/8, we strongly urge you to read Easton's release, which includes information about how to return your bat to receive a $500 voucher for Easton.com.
Again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and thank you all for your attention to this matter.

New Bat Rules for Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth
There have been a lot of bat rules questions sent to us and we wanted to help clear some things up
Above is the Stamp you need to look for when buying a new bat
2018 Bat Rule Changes for PSA Baseball Recreational League
Cal Ripken Baseball Division - All non-wood bats must have USABat Marking. Barrel Maximum 2 5/8" Note this is the first year a 2 5/8" bat is legal in our 4-12 yr old divisions. However you can still get a 2 1/4" bat if you choose but, it must be USA Stamped. No BBCOR Bats are permitted in the Cal Ripken Division. For T-Ball, bats must be marked with USABat T-Ball Stamp. As long as the bat says T-Ball for our 4-6 yr old league it is fine, no need to get a sticker. If not marked t-ball it must be a USA Stamped bat.
Babe Ruth 13-15 Division - All non-wood bats must have the USABat Marking or marked BBCOR .50. Bat Barrel - 2 5/8".
Babe Ruth 16-18 Division - All non-wood bats must be BBCOR .50 and no greater than -3. Bat Barrel - 2 5/8".
Note: Solid one piece wood bats are permitted for use in all divisions and must conform to Rule 1.10. No laminated or experimental bats shall be used in a game.
Bottom line is in most cases the bat you used last year is NO longer legal and you must get the new bat. This is not a league decision, almost all different brands of baseball have gone to this new rule.
SELECT BASEBALL- GSSA will not go to this rule until August 1, 2018 so your old bat, you had if you played Select Baseball, is still legal for SELECT TOURNAMENTS but, not for the League Games.
